My Continuum Story

As a practitioner I am generally found well away from the limelight which suits me fine because I truly hate being in front of a camera.  While this story, should in todays media driven world probably be in video form, I hope a photo and some written words will suffice :) - Pip.

Continuum Performance Academy

Continuum initially evolved when I was approached by a colleague, to support two emerging rugby league players who were displaced as a result of Covid isolation but who were still chasing viable opportunities in professional pathways in Australia. As word got around this morphed from two athletes into a sizeable academy.  When restrictions lifted, what is fondly known as the #CPATribe, found athletes returning to their respective pathways and lives, but with a strong ongoing connection, and individual coaching as required.

Emerging Athlete Development

This period reinforced my desire to learn more (complete my PhD in emerging athlete transition) and practice better.  They say “you don’t find your purpose your purpose finds you” and this definitely feels true to me.

Having been involved in football (soccer), boxing, rugby league and basketball, what I saw was a common need for broader development, transition and support approaches.  In particular what concerned me was the gap in advocacy for emerging athletes whose sporting career prospects typically end during the pathways phase.  Emerging athletes being those in high performance pathways and/or transitioning into collegiate or professional sporting organisations.

As an independent practitioner I am limited to the number of individual athletes I can coach.  As such my drive turns to sharing my knowledge, experience and resources and to collaborate with like-minded people to improve this transition.

Maximising Opportunities

Connected and supportive relationships are critical and “small things matter”.  In performance, talent is not enough, athletic character and personal development and 1%ers DO count.

As a facilitator in this space, I believe WE have a duty of care to integrate and nurture athletic development alongside personal development.  By offering experience beyond simply the sports specific skills, you are EMPOWERING these young people with knowledge, growth and resiliency and appropriately preparing them for life in and beyond sport.

If this is something you are looking to embrace either as a facilitator or an athlete then please leave your details and I’ll be in touch.
